In the first half of this year, the total value of Shanghai's foreign trade imports and exports reached 2.15 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 2.4%. Among this, export performance was particularly outstanding, hitting 952.7 billion yuan with a 11.1% year-on-year growth, while import volume stood at 1.2 trillion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 3.6%.
Faced with a complex and severe external environment, Shanghai's foreign trade has withstood pressure and forged ahead steadily, maintaining growth for five consecutive months. This fully demonstrates the resilience and strategies of high-quality development in addressing external uncertainties.
From a monthly perspective, Shanghai's imports and exports have been on a continuous recovery trajectory since the start of the year.
This steady momentum is reflected not only in the overall data, but also in the strong contribution of private enterprises. In the first five months, the import and export volume of private enterprises surged by 22.2%, emerging as the main engine driving the city's foreign trade growth.
Against the national backdrop, the total value of China's goods trade imports and exports exceeded 21.79 trillion yuan in the first half of the year, a year-on-year increase of 2.9%, highlighting the overall resilience of the foreign trade sector.
As a key trade hub, Shanghai's import and export growth has played a positive role in stabilizing the country's foreign trade.
