Elimination of T86 Duty-Free Policy

Effective at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time on May 2, 2025, the United States has eliminated the duty exemption policy for small parcels valued at under 800 U.S. dollars. Shipments failing to meet the eligibility criteria must be declared under the appropriate customs declaration type, with all applicable duties, taxes, and fees paid accordingly.

The specific charging standards are as follows: an ad valorem tax of 120% of the goods' value, or a specific duty of 100 U.S. dollars per shipment (to be increased to 200 U.S. dollars starting June 1, 2025).


Exemption of Electronic Products from "Reciprocal Tariffs"

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has announced the exemption of electronic products such as smartphones, computers, and chips from the so - called "reciprocal tariffs".

This exemption applies to electronic products entering the United States on or after April 5. Relevant tariffs that have already been paid are eligible for a refund.

However, solar cells and panels will be subject to "countervailing duties" based on their country of origin, with rates set at 395.5% for Vietnam, 375.2% for Thailand, and 34.4% for Malaysia.
