As the global economic landscape undergoes accelerated restructuring amid changes and growth curves wind through uncertainties, the 16th Annual Meeting of the New Champions of the World Economic Forum (2025 Summer Davos Forum) took place in Tianjin from June 24 to 26.
With a century-old history of foreign trade, this city has embraced the world with an open and inclusive attitude, emerging as a global hub for economic wisdom exchange.
Known as a "barometer of the world economy", this year's forum drew over 1,700 representatives from more than 90 countries and regions, including business leaders, government officials, civil society members and international organization representatives. They engaged in in-depth discussions on core topics such as "Deciphering the Global Economy", "China Outlook", and "Industries in Transition", exploring solutions amid ideological collisions.
Themed "Entrepreneurship in the New Era", the 2025 Summer Davos Forum focused on cutting-edge fields and emerging hotspots. Centered on five key themes—"Deciphering the Global Economy", "China Outlook", "Industries in Transition", "Investing in People and the Planet", and "New Energy and Materials"—it featured carefully designed parallel sessions, bilateral talks, and economic and trade exchanges.
"TCL's overseas manufacturing bases have not only created numerous local jobs but also contributed to the achievement of local sustainable development goals," said Li Dongsheng. He cited examples such as the Vietnamese factory employing over 7,000 local workers and the Brazilian factory actively participating in local biodiversity conservation projects.
The latest report released by the World Bank projected that the world economy would grow by 2.3% in 2025, a 0.4 percentage point downward revision from the forecast made at the beginning of the year. As geopolitical factors, technological advancements, sustainable development initiatives, and demographic changes reshape traditional growth engines, global economic growth finds itself at a crossroads.
"The global economy is undergoing a fundamental transformation. We are confronted with intertwined challenges that still demand cooperation from all parties," said Børge Brende, President and Chief Executive Officer of the World Economic Forum. Further deepening regional economic and trade cooperation serves as an indispensable driver for global economic growth.
"Since the start of this year, our export volume has surged by over 50% year-on-year, with our customer base expanding to countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative," a representative stated.
